Web Site of the Week
Every week we will feature a new web site (O.K. We have not been doing a very good job on the every week part, send us some suggestions and help us out.). If you have a suggestion send it to info@flighttimeradio.com. 3/28/08 www.speedwitheconomy.com is where you can buy a copy of Kent Paser's excellent book on aircraft performance improvement. 3/7/08
www.airbum.com is the home page of legendary aviation writer, photographer, flight instructor, and pilot of nearly everything that has existed with wings, Bud Davisson. This web site can keep you busy for weeks with hundreds, if not thousands, of articles and photographs and so far 122 pilot reports on everything from a J3 cub to Space Ship 1. Also contains a link to Bud's Pilot Report podcasts at www.flightjournal.com. This is one of our favorite aviation web sites. 2/23/08 Patty Wagstaff is one of our guests this week. You can find her show schedule, lots of good pictures, specifications on her plane, and lots of other good information on her web site. 2/8/08 Careers in Aviation advances aerospace education and employment by fostering scholarships; by connecting students with available assistance; and by encouraging the aviation industry, professional associations, government agencies, and the educational community to work together effectively supporting aviation and space career development programs. The
president of Careers in Aviation will be one of our guests next week and we look
forward to learning more about their programs. 1/24/08 We are welcoming BCAir as one of our newest sponsors. Check out their web site for plans to make your own cool model planes out of aluminum cans. You can also win a set of plans or a T shirt by being one of our lucky callers. As if we need another excuse to empty a bunch of cans.
1/18/08 http://www.clusterballoon.org/ Our Web site for this week features cluster ballooning. Cluster Ballooning is when you basically take a bunch of helium filled weather balloons and attach them to you and go flying.
Previous Web Sites of the Week 1/5/08 http://www.videosift.com/video/Amazing-Wingsuit-Flying What do you get when someone is bored with jumping out of airplanes? You get BASE jumping where people skydive off of Buildings, Antennas, Spans (bridges), and Earth (mostly cliffs). What happens when someone gets bored with BASE jumping? You get wingsuit BASE jumping. Wingsuits basically give you a suit with webs under your arms and between your legs so you can fly horizontally as well as falling vertically sort of like a flying squirrel. Combine that with jumping off of a cliff and buzzing the terrain below you with 100 mile per hour horizontal speeds and you have one of the most amazing to watch videos we have ever seen. More information and videos are available at http://www.phoenix-fly.com/. We are hoping to have a wingsuit base jumper as on of our guests on next weeks show. |
